Covid has pushed lots of us to start new hobbies and complete old projects that have been put on the backburner in our busy day-to-day lives. Inspired by her youngest son’s love of video games, Rachel started writing this book when she suddenly found herself recuperating at home with time on her hands. Lockdown spurred her on to complete the project, engage the help of some young editors, and learn how to self-publish on Amazon KDP; she has learnt many new skills during the process.
A little door unexpectedly leads Toby and his little dog, Scamp, to a thrilling, action-packed summer adventure. Set inside a computer game – Escape! – the story centres around the challenges of the gaming levels he must achieve, with the help of his trusted online-gaming circle of friends, to escape back to reality. An adventure story aimed at readers aged 8 to 12. This would also be suitable for small reading groups at primary or elementary school. There are 50 more-challenging words defined on a page-by-page basis throughout the text to help with comprehension.
